This lot comes from Yulissa Chambi in Bolivia’s Yungas region. The area is well-suited and highly esteemed for coffee production. Located in the remote mountain ranges connecting the low, humid Amazonian basin to the dry Andean altiplano above, the landscape is steep and rugged and covered in natural forest, and the climate is humid and tropical.
Yulissa’s family purchased the property that her farm is planted on in the 1980’s. At the time, the property was all jungle. Her family planted a portion of the property with coffee, but over the years coffee production on the property fell off before being reinvigorated by Yulissa in 2019. Yulissa is a coffee enthusiast and self-made coffee professional. She has not only dedicated herself to the mastery of coffee production and its best practices but also to learn about the rest of the supply chain, milling, roasting, and baristaship to the extent of becoming Bolivia’s national Aeropress champion.
This is a Red Catuai varietal lot. It is a straightforward washed preparation.
